How to Break a Movie into an Arbitrary Number of Clips using Splitt.

In some cases, the best way to work with a video is to split it into several segments and process each piece individually. Splitt offers a simple and effective way to do this.

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Create a new Splitt project.

Splitt projects contain a movie file reference and a collection of markers that describe how the video should be spliced. To create a project, click the Create New Project button on the Welcome Screen or select File > New from the menubar.

Step 2: Add Splitt Markers.

To add a time marker, move the scrub slider (below the movie preview) to the desired location in the timeline and click the “+” button underneath the Marker Tray or select the File > Add Marker option from the menubar. The number of markers in a project is unlimited.

You may move a marker by simply dragging it along the timeline.

Precise navigation mode gives you frame-accurate movement along the scrub slider.

Step 3: Show the Exportable Segments.

To preview the segments that will be created by the current set of markers, click the Show Exportable Segments button below the Marker Tray or select the View > Show Segments option from the menubar.

Segments that are less than 10 seconds in length will be displayed in red.

Step 4: Export.

To begin the export process, click the Export button on the toolbar or select File > Segments from the menubar. Output progress is displayed on the bottom left corner of the document window.

Step 5: Save your project.

Splitt projects are stored in a .splitt file. To save a project, select the File > Save option from the menubar.
